Excited to share a fun holiday project we built called Salty Open Source Santa.
It's an Anthropic-powered Santa that determines if you're on the open source naughty or nice list by analyzing your GitHub contributions, then writes you a personalized (and salty) letter about your commits.
The idea came from our team joking about reviewing each other's git history. We thought - what if Santa was a grumpy code reviewer who had strong opinions about your commit messages and abandoned PRs?
Key features: - Quick GitHub auth (we don't store private data) - AI-generated personalized roasts based on your public GitHub activity - "Friend mode" to roast your fellow devs - A scoring algorithm that actually tries to be fair about who makes the nice list - Full technical breakdown showing how we built it with Directus, Nuxt, and Anthropic's Claude
We learned a ton about prompt engineering, OAuth flows, and rate limiting while building this. The whole thing is open source and we documented the full build process.
