Take the main point and not the details. Here's another example: women/minority voting. Not the first country or culture to allow that, either.

I'm not sure about the parent commenter, but I believe a main point should be allowed to stand if the details are not correct or well thought out. The great slogan no longer inspires me when the details and thus the follow-up are missing.
