It's so ham-handed that it reminds me of typical phishing emails, which are supposedly full of misspellings to filter out recipients who notice misspellings and aren't worth the trouble to try to scam.
Maybe it's the hacking equivalent of Schrödinger's douchebag? If the hacking attempt succeeds, then you've achieved your goal. If it fails then you obviously joking or doing "research."
