Ask HN: What are diverse political YT channels?

Any recommendations for YT channels about (global) politics?

Mostly military capability related. Powerpoint level but knowledgeable. Austin and Jim are pretty elderly now though. Beware their over-reaching opinions. I can't believe 'What the Arabs think...' from anyone who can't speak the language.

Dan Carlin needs no introduction. Not as active now.

All I can think of. Social media has been over-run by bad actors with deep pockets.

I dunno if you could effectively do a global political channel. In my experience, any coverage of politics needs substantial grounding in the culture of the country. As a feature segment you have to do plenty of background which a native would be well aware of.

There are plenty of British political podcasts that have YouTube channels attached (generally not much beyond a video of the recording).

Examples featuring former politicians include 'The Rest is Politics' and 'Electoral Dysfunction'.

YouTube sucks

Yep. Problem with asking people to spoonfeed you "diverse" political sources from YouTube is that most of it is wrong or misinformation. It's not even intentional misinformation most times either, but just sources with no accountability or expertise in their field trying to tell people what they want to hear instead of critically engaging with current events. YouTube doesn't reward good journalism, it rewards clicks.

Find diverse political news sources and do your due diligence on the people that run it. Understand who's reporting your news, what their incentives are and who holds them accountable.
