“LLMs aren’t a path to AGI” is, like all theories about the progression of AI, at its core based on the philosophical musings of the subset of computer nerds that are unjustifiably confident enough to think that their area of expertise extends to something that truly nobody on the face of this earth is even close to understanding. OpenAI has just as much of an idea as the knowitall HN naysayers, which is to say ‘no idea at all’.
