The problem with this analysis is that you can write a nearly identical one for Trump. Trump is broadly disliked, anti-democratic, and ran just as much of a fumbling campaign as Harris did. The key difference is the media environment. People no longer get their information primarily from CNN and NYT. They get it from TikTok, Twitter, and Facebook, and the right dominates those platforms now. Compare the Biden age discourse with the Trump age discourse. The latter is basically nonexistent despite Trump taking office at the same age as Biden. Look at the exit polls showing that the economy was a major concern for voters despite real wages, employment, and basically every other measure of economic success being at all time highs. That's because people are bombarded by videos like the one with JD Vance lying about the price of eggs. The right controls the narrative. That's why they won this election.
