Elon Musk on Battery Industry Technology

"Every industry has a certain amount of BS but the battery industry might be a candidate for the industry with the most amount of BS. Battery technology is very complicated. The amount of range you need in a battery is the same amount of range your bladder has. There is no magical breakthrough.

Both Tesla and SpaceX are desperately interested in anything that works, unfortunately, its rarely the case that something proposed to us actually works.

We used to rate every new battery technology we heard on a scale of 1-10. Nothing got above a 4.

If you feel you have better battery technology with greater range, compete with Tesla. Kick our ass."
