Article makes zero sense. The fact that these goods are routed to Mexico is in passive voice. Who exports it from US?

Why would they route through US which has a higher standard of screening rather than shipping it directly to Mexico?

What's is the import export certificate label on these boxes? US importers are registered with bonds.

Who picks up these boxes in the US?

What's with master carton? You can't really create cartons randomly. They all have to belong to same shipper.

What's the import code on these package? It's impossible to lie and smuggle stuff like these. You can say these are medical products then who is listed as American importer?

Part 1: We bought everything needed to make $3 million worth of fentanyl. All it took was $3,600 and a web browser

How narcos sneak fentanyl to the U.S.

Spoiler: It's parcel shipments.

Because narcos are smarter than people who blame immigrants for crap they don't do.

WTF did I just click through? Was this an article or a pop-up picture book for children? Is Reuters a website with articles or not?

Very high quality anti-China propaganda. You don’t need China to make the precursors for fentanyl in necessary amounts.

There was $1.6 billion allocated for fighting 'disinformation'

So expect more quality articles like this.

Did you also notice the subtle "Russian doll" anchor in the article?

It’s very well documented that a vast majority of these precursor chemicals are created in labs in China and are constantly being modified to avoid regulation

There's a part 1 to this story where they had reporters purchase precursors from Chinese vendors for miniscule sums. (The article claims they bought enough precursors to make enough fentanyl to manufacture 750,000 fake Perc M30s for $3,600.) You might not need China to do this but buying from Chineese sellers certainly seems to be a relatively easy and risk free way to do it. What I don't fully understand is why the need to import the precursors to Mexico and then smuggle the fentanyl back into the US, if the packages are arriving via Los Angeles. Possibly the cartels are able to operate big labs in Mexico without as much worry of being raided?
