Balance fixes (yes, in single player games) show that this is not always the case. Baldur's Gate 3 and Elden Ring have both had several gameplay tactics nerfed.

That sometimes happens but at the end of the day its on you to actually patch the single player game. No one forces your hand except on console, you can still earn steam achievements on old game versions i believe.
