"On September 30, a day before the WordPress.org deadline for the ban on WP Engine, the hosting company updated its site’s footer to clarify it is not directly affiliated with the WordPress Foundation or owns the WordPress trade."

Also changing all things in the form of "WordPress Foo" to "Foo for WordPress" (like "WordPress Hosting" -> "Hosting for WordPress"). And dropping "WordPress" entirely from the names of their training products. I'm also hearing that they've quietly set up a mirror of the relevant wordpress.org repos.

All rather undramatic defensive actions. Perhaps MM will now let it go ... but my bet is he still wants his 8%. Besides, isn't it all about them turning off versions? :^)

He wants more now:

> For transparency, Automattic is publishing the full term sheet WP Engine was offered on September 20th. Given WP Engine’s behavior, deception, and incompetence since September 20th these terms are no longer sufficient.
