Sea robins are fish with 'the wings of a bird and multiple legs like a crab'

Those things look freaky! And the legs seem like they function more as whiskers/feelers. I wonder if they are swimming from the wings or if the “legs” are helping push them forward. If the latter

They also make great noises: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=sea+robbin+noises&t=osx&iax=videos...

Guess everything converges on crabs in evolution.

Have you had a really deep insight on your own, or just quoted a good idea without attribution?

Maybe I'm forgetting some of my developmental biology lessons, but aren't these "legs" really "digits"?

I.e. they are the members of the fins without the membrane connecting them. So the relationship to other fish is like the opposite of bats' relation to other mammals.

Only knew of sea robins from that B-52's song "Rock Lobster".
