So much FUD has been spread about the job market for software developers I find it difficult to write-off to Occam’s Razor. AI is just one in a long series of insubstantial yet deeply hyped stories about how the end is near. Perhaps it is, but so far there is hardly been a dent in the demand for skilled folks.
This isn’t to say there aren’t challenges — skills are changing, markets are changing, and searches can be long. But fundamentally there still aren’t enough people to fill the demand.
