Great. If the industry would actually take that onboard and not use capped out batteries as a means to push their latest yet same device.
Fundamentally, it was a matter of being conservative (throttle the CPU) or liberal (faster, but risking an instant and perhaps destructive shutdown.)
The power supply in your computer makes the same choice--kills the system with a modicum of control rather than allow the voltage to drop to the point that the electronics might mess up.
If you're old enough not to have to get off my lawn you might remember in the old days how there were procedures to ensure no destruction on powerdown. They're a thing of the distant past, though, because now the power supply can tell the hardware not to trust the power and the hardware responds by covering it's ears and not trusting any further commands.
