The dumb phone was $70
It has a replaceable battery replaceable Sim card. It’s totally waterproof has a two day battery, Internet, Bluetooth, GPS, limited unlocked android applications web access through minified android with t9 and arrow keys.
Most likely I’m going to switch to that type of phone too when I need a new one
I think people are starting to understand what they gave up by adopting the smart phone as an accessory brain extension controlled by ad companies
It can run a variety of Android apps.
I don’t really understand how it could be classified as “dumb” anymore than any other smartphone if you just stick with the built in apps? Perhaps it helps you have more self control on what you install because the interaction methods aren’t geared to most apps?
It’s the habituation that needs to be broken and making it harder to do the habit is a good middle point
Without seeing it: it isn’t. It might be water resistant under certain circumstances if you follow the instructions to seal it exactly, and the seals are fresh with no contamination.
The AI stuff won't work because I'm in the EU :D
I think this Jobs' quote is more applicable now than ever. Not to mention Apple's acquisition of Siri in 2010 was spearheaded by Jobs himself. He'd likely have plenty of opinions about today's AI advancements and user-friendly ways to integrate it.
You always end up somewhere in the middle.
Otherwise, you'll be selling flying cars that don't actually fly.
Crazy that they're hinging the sales of their new iPhone on features that won't be available in their #2 and #3 markets (China and EU)
Yes, they have a bias but that doesn't mean they are bad journalism...
My AirPods are the only thing I could say is fine. But even those have major issues working correctly with my watch.
Overall the watch is what I’m most annoyed about. I bought the 8th gen and it’s just amazing how buggy it still is, how bad the battery life is (if you’re actually active), and how little attention they e given the UI which is clear when you try to use the Podcast app on the watch. So, so bad.
For all these reasons combined with the original sin after Jobs death of destroying all that was amazing about the MacBook Pro, I view them as a misguided company that lost their way and churns out bad designed and bad products overall anymore.
