Electrostatic Motors Reach the Macro Scale

This paper[1] seems to describe the motor.

And Macroscale Electrostatic Rotating Machines and Drives: A Review and Multiplicative Gain Performance Strategy (2022) "reviews prior and present works in macroscale electrostatic rotating machinery and identifies the relevant machine types, their limitations, and strategies for performance improvement."[2]

The TFA paper, and intriguing others[3], seem not so easily accessed. The startup website, and its youtube, seem meh.[4]

It is worth noting that this motor uses an "organic liquid dielectric" rather than air between the rotating discs. This motor may not have a long service life if it is unstable. Old electrolytic capacitors are notoriously unreliable. You might need to change the "oil" once in a while.
