FTC Announces Final Rule Banning Fake Reviews and Testimonials

The rule will allow agency to strengthen enforcement, seek civil penalties against violators, and deter AI-generated fake reviews.

It clarifies that the conditional nature of the offer of compensation or incentive may be expressly or implicitly conveyed."

Sounds like Amazon's review structure requires a complete overhaul...

Fake reviews and testimonials constitute speech.... speech that involves the ability for corporations to sell products amd make money.

Meanwhile the speech of elected officials - and those running for office - is uncontrolled and they lie to the public with impunity.
