That is, you can approximate Rusts's enum (sum type) with pure Python using whatever combination of Literal, Enum, Union and dataclasses. For example (more here[1]):
@dataclass
class Foo: ...
@dataclass
class Bar: ...
Frobulated = Foo | Bar
