Doug Coulter's Solar Powered Star in a Jar

Note this guy may or may not be considered a bit of a crank:

> He has a history of making self-aggrandizing claims that are not particularly credible and that are not defended with evidence, and consequently, he is something of a pariah in the serious amateur fusion physics community. He maintains a website / forum that (among other things) cultivates his preferred image and gives him publicity free from technical pushback on those claims. He has followers who range from grudging in their tolerance of this narcissism, to completely credulous and sycophantic.

> …There is no doubt his projects perform detectable DD fusion. However, hundreds of other, similar, hobby projects do this as well… I don’t think he’s a quack. I do believe he’s not scientifically cautious, has a large ego, and makes outlandish claims.
