Musk claims there was a DDoS attack on X – but The Verge is told there was not

"According to an anonymous source", "according to someone familiar with X's thinking", "according to someone close to X", "we're told", etc., if I ever see anything like any of those I instantly assume I'm being lied to and I stop reading.

All of those mean absolutely nothing and carry zero weight. It could have been the President that told them that, it could have been the homeless guy down the street. "Someone familiar with X's thinking" could be the journalist in the next room or it could be someone that used to work with them, nobody knows. All such phrases are weasel words/phrases, and any use of them is a major red flag.

It's amazing really. It's his job to mitigate an attack like this. Especially on a platform the size of X. If he wasn't lying, then he let a DoS attack shut down his live stream, so he still fucked up.

Don't mean to blow your mind, but both can be true.
