Ask HN: Where do you find the links that you submit to HN?

Kagi Small Web (as it features many blogs from people that have been featured on HN)

https://kagi.com/smallweb

I read the news. I follow some RSS feeds. If something interests me and I think HN would like it too, I post it.

General web browsing, my RSS feed reader, my ~6000 curated and tagged bookmarks.

I search on GOOG for it. If I can't find anything there I use DDG.

I pull up the browser bookmark section labelled News and I look at each site manually to see what things people here may find interesting. It is just a list of sites I have found interesting articles in the past. As paywalls get added I delete the site entry.

The internet.

Most were found via internet searches while trying to solve certain problems for work/life. Some links were shared with me, either personally or via HN/Digg/Reddit.

Explanations of where I found my most upvoted links:

[298] Story Structure 101: Super Basic Shit (https://hw.leftium.com/#/item/34576085)

- I think I found this on Digg.

[239] Scale of the Universe (https://hw.leftium.com/#/item/40083285)

- Kagi search for something I wanted to share after seeing https://youtu.be/1kjvgWBHzec. I think I saw the original scale of the universe animation either on HN or Digg.

[136] How to Move Your Google Photos (https://hw.leftium.com/#/item/38065002)

- Found while trying to figure out how to move photos from my university Google Workspace account before it was deleted.

[51] Keypirinha: A fast launcher for keyboard ninjas on Windows (https://hw.leftium.com/#/item/39022891)

- I have used many keyboard launchers, starting with Launchy. I think I found Launchy via HN. (Maybe Reddit/Digg?) After commenting on some related HN discussion, I decided to share my favorite launcher. I think I discovered Keypirinha via a Show HN.

[40] Pico CSS v2 comes with 380 manually crafted colors (https://hw.leftium.com/#/item/39488979)

- I found Pico while searching for Tailwind alternatives that didn't obliterate all default styling into indistinguishable elements.

[33] A smarter CD command. Supports all major shells (https://hw.leftium.com/#/item/39376538)

- Zoxide was recommended to me on YouTube, after viewing related videos (Maybe OML videos? I started searching for something related to plaintext on Kagi, and the results took me to a YouTube video.)

One time, I checked an HN account with a fairly high karma. Turns out it was spamming many posts per day. Mostly reposting other people's new links that hadn't caught on yet or freshly re-eligible links (was about a year since it last made the HN front page). Most posts had few/no votes, but a small percentage of these reposts got a lot of votes.
