I created Chrome extension that lets you paste URLs onto text in Gmail

Slack and ton of other modern web apps allow you to paste a URL on top of existing text to convert that text into a link. Gmail, frustratingly, doesn't support this yet. So I created a really small Chrome extension that adds this feature to Gmail. Hopefully they'll make this a first class feature in the future, but for now this gets the job done. Enjoy!

I've never known this. My fingers default to Ctrl+k to turn text into a link after so many years of using reddit (maybe RES?) and github. Gmail and Outlook 365 also supports that, so that covers most of the things I use daily. Slack used to support that but changed a while back, but I never knew you could just paste a URL over over the text to make a link in most of those as well.

It has been amazing experiencing in real time Google go from hot new thing that works incredibly well and is constantly innovating…

To “the thing I use… because it’s,… infrastructure”

Everywhere from Docs to Gmail to Search they are being out-innovated. It’s sad, to me.
