Newly identified bot-like accounts are generating billions of impressions

45 accounts on X. 610,000 posts in 2 months. (222 posts per day per account!) 4 billion views.

And the last line:

"Global Witness wrote to X to give them the opportunity to comment on these findings, but they did not respond to our findings."

This problem is probably impossible to solve, without restoring both:

- personal authority over agency/identity (eg. through private PKI credentials, such as produced by HD wallet derivation schemes used for cryptocurrency, etc)

- personal establishment of networks of trust between agent IDs (root public keys), proving networks of known identities with specified levels of trust.

The “networks of trust” of these botnets would then be clearly “incestuous” (few external trust relationships) and thus easily ignored.

Once the value of botnets drops to zero, incentives disappear.
