Ask HN: Where are all those industry changing AI products?

I have been following the current summer of AI, and the progress made in a few years in breathtaking (at least to me). We have open sources models like SAM, and the recent SAM 2 under Apache License, and the Qwen models, Llama etc etc. It has been a few years now and there seems to be a lot of potential for these technologies. You can speculate at how they're going to change various industries, but where are those products?

It feels like the current technology is more of empowering the knowledge worker but than a drop-in replacement, hence the copilot for everything. If you know of some interesting things happening around the current AI tech, I am all ears.

First tooth "repair" done autonomous by a robot. It's been here on HN. the mouth has been scanned and mapped by the robot. the robot uses light instead of x-ray, reducing the overall x-ray exposure of tissue. with light they also can see the cavities & nerves. The doctors decide what to do and the the robot started to that sound, to drill the tooth off. Even when the patient was moving with the head, the Roboter did a precise job

oh my god. I really admire the person who signed up to be a test subject for this. that guy needs to be in redbull youtube.

what can go wrong... :)

the robot is also capable to do the drilling safely, even the patient is moving. Whats also a big suprise, the robot knows where the nerves are. Thats the biggest advantage in my eyes. May be, one day you can have your tooth made while you chat on the telephone sipping a mokka hahah and no one going loose on your nerves.

It's already changing the translation industry by letting people handle things in another language by themselves. It's fantastic for immigrants and language learners.

Bro please I promise it's coming we just need another 10 billion dollars then computers will be sentient c'mon bro please...

govt give us money cos russia.

Look, my quicksort WILL work quickly; I just need a Matrioshka brain powered by the entire output of the Sun's worth of single-threaded processing speed and memory!
