Coding is no longer the top skill for tech founders

Over the past 7 months, I’ve built three SaaS startups. Unfortunately, they didn’t succeed, not because of funding issues, but due to inadequate marketing and networking.

Domain specific knowledge and experience is how you identify problems worth solving. That is, problems that people will pay to have solved for them. Marketing is reaching the people you have identified as having the specific problem you solved.

Whether the solution requires computers and software is an implementation detail.

Coding was only ever one of the skills useful/required.

Was it ever? I think it's a required skill, not the top skill.

Marketing courses, taught by academics suffers from the :

    In theory there is no difference between theory and practice.
    In practice there is.

Just like any sport, reading a book and watching videos won't make you any better. Only practice on the playing field does. Same with sales and marketing.

Yes, but the marketing course involves a lot of case analysis. I think these can largely avoid some troubles I may encounter.
