If you want cars to be smaller, you're going to have to put an upper limit on the size of vehicles on public roadways. I think a lot of people would actually be receptive to smaller vehicles, but auto manufacturers have put virtually zero effort into a way that easily expands back-of-vehicle storage for grocery trips, etc. I'm not sure what the solution is, but popping out the rear seat and hauling it out of the car ain't it.
