What is "essential" is open for debate, but I would say that transportation and communications are pretty high on the list.
Not sure I'm pro crypto(currency) if only because I think stability is a massive issue.
Beyond this, I feel that a primary lesson from COVID should be an emphasis on dual/multi sourcing and domestic production at least from a security standpoint. There are some levers that can be used by govt to promote this.
