This seems like a lose-lose proposition. If people don't care about handmade or supporting indy creators then Etsy is destined to get smaller. If they abandon that niche they go from a future of being smaller to being non-existant trying to compete with Temu and Amazon.
There is that third way of growing the cake. "You have one wish,with a Million faces and you have us Choose us for not sus."

Hasn't this been the case for awhile? My understanding was that for every Etsy seller offering hand-made art, there were a dozen people who weren't fundamentally different from drop-shippers.
I understand the market forces at play but this is such a travesty
