It seems to be endemic to HN to blindly transfer lessons from one domain to another without understanding that solutions (not to mention the problems themselves!) are deeply contextual and context-sensitive. I’d nominate it as the Paul Graham Special: violent but breezily stated overgeneralization. Happily, though, there are enough different kinds of people here that it usually gets pointed out when it happens, which is heartening.
