Actually most people, regardless of their scholar path and social position, are more or less useful idiots, they know enough to float in a spot of the society they was able to find, but nothing more. That's the very same for the generic worker who hit his/her own hands multiple time not understanding why or the formally very skilled engineer who design crappy and expensive disasters, both blaming something else grasshoppers invasions and cosmic rays included. It's not a mere matter of IQ but substantial vs notional knowledge or gnosis vs doxa. Most these days are just trained for doxa, classify knowledge as something impossible, even dangerous, "perhaps for the PhD" (of course who is trained on the doxa-only basis)...
Unfortunately building skills, substantial knowledge is much harder than building muscles, while it's far, far easier to loose them.
