NixOS commits a "purge" of "Nazi" contributors, forces abdication of founder

I'm seeing this need for ideology purity pushed everywhere, in places where ideology should not matter. As far as I am concerned, as long as people are respectful they should be welcomed to contribute to the project.
I try hard to work with projects which are not Western-centric for this reason or at least which have a commitment to a community which admits of disagreement on issues.
>Less well known is the paradox of tolerance: Unlimited tolerance [i.e. "diversity at all costs"] must lead to the disappearance of tolerance [i.e. the ability to agree to disagree]. If we extend unlimited tolerance even to those who are intolerant [i.e. heretic-hunting ideological conformists], if we are not prepared to defend a tolerant society against the onslaught of the intolerant, then the tolerant will be destroyed, and tolerance with them.
Tolerance is not enthusiastic embrace, but "the willingness to accept or tolerate someone or something, especially opinions or behavior that you may not agree with, or people who are not like you." These heresy hunters are strictly intolerant by the meaning of the word and destroy the predicates of a tolerant society.
They could have just forked the project and continued happily without much fuss, but that would bring no power play.
It's weird to me how people can't see the fascistoid methodology being played out in the open though: if you don't bend to our ideology we'll ostracize you and we will "get rid" of you one way or another. I think there are a bunch of psycopaths that are abusing the trans right movement for personal gains, and are most likely bringing more harm than good to transgender people.
It's so much hate in the name of what, exactly ?
I find the coverage on Nix from Jupiter Broadcasting [0] to be quite balanced, respectful and deescalating, I also really enjoy their Nix Nerds Matrix channel, there are a lot of friendly and knowledgeable Nix supporters in there [1].
Calling a group "Nazis" though is often a sign of a sinking ship, respect between two factions has by now completely vanished it seems. Honestly I wonder if this blog reflects reality.
What a horrible website Lunduke is. So much intolerance for people existing as they wish to, and so much bad faith arguing against their right to exist.
On trans issues: "all in the name of supporting a sexual fetish." One of several references to being trans as being a sexual fetish. Which is a truly disgusting false equivocation. This is a line of transphobia that should have been left behind in the 80s.
Zero credibility and just plain hatemongering. They're alarmed by seeing people with hateful views being referred to as 'rotten flesh' but that really is an apt metaphor for them.
That said, I agree with you that it's a false equivocation, as this is not the only reason why some males harbour this desire.
Good of you to not generalise this across all trans women like Blanchard did but still bad of you to even entertain it in this context. I'm sure some people might want to transition for this kind of reason but it's not a pathological root cause of being trans at all.
Just because there may be an element of fetish to some people's lives doesn't mean you can extend to all people who you think bear a resemblance to them. That's very offensive to suggest and is easily debunked by a trans person simply stating they're not doing it because of a sexual fetish. You can choose not to believe them but that really just exposes your bias and transphobia.
how does that impact ANYONE else?
That netizens who choose to go to Asahi Linux forums shouldn't be exposed to trans developers?
Not that I actually think it is. If it was though… yes, I’d absolutely think that. How could you not?
I don’t think anybody has the right to subject other people to their fetishes. Why would this be an exception?
I predict the Nixos setup will collapse and the people who aren't so political will form a new forked group, with a new name. They will 'win' by 'living their best life'.
