Ask HN: Mu.xyz costs $1300 and expires in 15 days, should I renew?

$1300 is not reasonable. I just checked and saw it should renew for $15. So I'd move to a registrar that has a more reasonable cost.

And, dumb question - are you sure that 1300 is in USD? Because I also saw number in that range, but in ₹, not $.

Yea it's correct in USD. Both the registrar and transferring registrar are charging the same price. Seems absurd.

i wouldn't and i am a domain junkie. i focus only on .com now. the others are worthless for resale by themselves.

its only $10 https://gen.xyz/pricing

So no it's not. A two letter domains is a premium. No registrar will do it less for $1000. You wouldn't expect any other two letter domains to go cheap either. guess I answered my own question.

Look up something like lx.xyz on that site. You'll see it's $3k/year
