Ask HN: What do you do if you hate your (large) code base

What you describe often leads to v2 re-write projects. Sometimes it works out well and other times not so good.

Can you split it into different components?

I could but will take work to do so. Maybe a few weeks. The code started with heavy OOP cuteness and ideas of globals = bad. When I was browsing the linux kernel code base I got a much better idea of how large code bases and systems can be organized.

Spit on your hands, pick up the ax, and chop wood.

The code base won't fix itself.

And it ain't someone else's problem.

Good luck.
