Why does it bother you? If its the same content and the same evaluation as in person why does it matter

Please see my reply above, but to answer your specific question regarding the content being the same;

If I watch the MOOC courses from the MIT's CS Masters for 2024, would that mean that I've got an Offline Masters in CS from MIT? Same content, as you put it.

And if it doesn't matter if it's offline or online, why not be transparent about it? Why go as far as to straight up lie about it being an offline masters degree, when it doesn't matter, as you put it?

Watching lectures alone vs watching lectures and being evaluated on understanding are two different things

Watching lectures online as part of a short of 5k people when you paid $18k for it, and watching courses in person as part of a cohort of 20 people having paid $70k for it are two different things.

How is the learning different? All you're doing is listing costs and numbers of people then hand waving the rest which is what matters. Is there a difference in information retention? Understanding of the material? Or is a degree just an expensive piece of paper to you

Gatekeeping... some folks just need a gate to feel superior.
