Looking for pre-existing products doesn't make your work better because it is not working on your product. If your product is useful then it doesn't matter if there is something else. If your product isn't useful, working on it is the only thing that might make it useful.

Looking for existing products is an excuse to quit. If you find something you can say, "My idea isn't worth working on because it already exists." If you don't find anything, you can say "My idea isn't worth working on because there is no market." Both of these are easier than work. Good luck.
