I still don't know how we made it through cold war w/o these organization...

Come to think of it, we were much less networked during the cold war.

(eg, my childhood consisted of at most three channels)

If you don't wish to be reliant on academics being able to study disinformation for you, the second best thing might be to read the textbooks that teach how it is produced.
