Ask HN: Coding Bootcamps vs. Self-Learning in 2024 – Which Is Better?
I've been wrestling with a decision about advancing my tech career and I would love to hear your thoughts and personal experiences. Given the evolving landscape of tech education, I'm torn between joining a coding bootcamp or taking the self-learning route.
1. For those of you who have attended coding bootcamps recently, what was your experience? Was it worth the investment in terms of time and money?
2. For the self-learners, what resources did you find most effective and how do you stay motivated and on track without a structured program?
3. Employers and seasoned developers in the community, how do you view bootcamp grads versus self-taught developers in terms of skills and readiness for real-world projects?
Your insights could be incredibly helpful, not just to me but to many others in a similar position. Thanks for sharing your experiences!
