Ask HN: Is freelancing a good path to building SaaS?

I left my job, thinking I can get going with freelancing, and build my saas ideas in the freetime.

But then I noticed even when I have free time, my mind is always on the topic of freelancing.

Chasing new clients, writing blog content, answering to clients, networking etc.

I searched on HN and see a lot of commenting that freelancing might be a bad path if you want to have a SaaS company.

Maybe it's better to have a job, don't give 100% and just build after hours?

I guess many people here have been through that dilemma. What did you choose and why? What happened?
