You could check out ethical ads [1]. I have no first-hand experience with them as a publisher. But they are fairly unobtrusive on readthedocs [2] sites.
To add the context, the site is a simple web app for photo editing with unique twist. And I would like to monetize its usage without the need of people paying for it (or for premium).
