Delivering WordPress in 6KB (2018)

I appreciate the message, truly, I never stopped to think about electricity consumption in this way and the challenges to tackle it are not evident to me, sure, you can consume less electricity by putting in more, expensive, development time, isn't that always the tradeoff? I'd wager almost any factory could be more efficient and profitable if it didn't care about the environment. Yet it's hard for me to imagine regulations in this regard.

That said, and I'd like pushback to this idea, isn't the fat kind of what you want? Wordpress is popular because you can rely on a whole bunch of stuff being there from the get-go, stuff you don't even have to think about. We want it because, being somewhat blunt here, it's pretty idiot-proof. I'm sure a lot of experienced Wordpress devs might read this and think "Oh no, but that's not necessary, it's not even desirable a lot of the time!" to which I say, sorry, you are not the average developer, you don't matter much.

The average Wordpress developer doesn't understand Wordpress. They started using it because it's a cheap and fast way of making a website that you can sell to a client. Yes you can do a LOT of stuff with it, you can go headless, you can customize it a whole lot, hell the whole thing is open source, you could turn it into a communal music player if you want to, but know this: less than 1% of WP sites use ACF, this is just not what people are doing.

At the end of the day, devs literally don't know any better.

Nice for multiple reasons. Reminds me of that solar-powered website from Low-tech Magazine! https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=20038619

Interestingly, I didn't get the byte total that the website says it was, loading 16957 bytes (16.5kb) rather than the advertised 6kb

Repost. And project is not updated in last 5+ years
