IMO the NYT goes too far with its copyright/trademark claims. A few months ago several small-time amateur hobbyist Wordle-clone GitHub repositories were deleted due to NYT DMCA takedowns.

"But if You Don't Defend Your Trademark You Might Lose It!"

I mean isn't that how it actually works?

Considering I read this headline as "Wordle in legal row with geography spinoff, Wordle" ... I think this is an entirely valid trademark dispute. Yes, NYT goes too far with copyright/trademark claims, but this one seems like an issue where reasonable minds could disagree.

This kind of selfish behavior makes me want to stop playing Wordle.

I had to take down my wordle10.com website (a 10 letter version of Wordle).

The NYT is more lawyers than journalism at this point.

It's - Executives - Lawyers - Accountants - 4 guys running IT - 3 writers - part time fact checker

The Grey Lady is now in hospice, just a matter of time when the 2024 campaign money dries up.

Maybe the NYT haven’t heared of Scrabble or Boggle?

Neither of those are typosquatters of the other, and NYT didn’t name their game “Scralbble” for good reason.

The NYT didn't name the game.

"In the filing, the New York Times, which purchased Wordle for a seven figure sum in 2022"

I don't think it's at all reasonable to say that https://worldledaily.com/ is typosquatting https://www.nytimes.com/games/wordle/index.html
