Is it ethical (and legal) to sell access to content you don't own?

If by "content you don't own" you mean "pubic domain works" or "copyrighted works for which you have a license that permits sale", then sure. If you mean "copyrighted content you don't have a license for", then that's pretty much the most blatant possible way to violate copyright.

How ethic and acceptable and legal is this? I find it quite unacceptable, if you want to distribute things you don't own, at least open source them
