The AI aspect to this story is the least interesting bit about it. The magazine created a fake interview with Michael Schumaker, claiming it was the first interview since his injury. The whole thing was fabricated - the fact they used AI to help fabricate it, is not really relevant. The magazine editor was fired, and they apologised to the family. Not sure how the judgement to award 200,000 Euros was reached - the article doesn't say if this went to trial or if it was handled through a regulator?
I'd say it's interesting, how generative AI empowers people to create more BS. Obviously, this is especially true for those, that are already in the business of creating BS.
I'm surprised anyone got fired. Surely the tabloid publisher must have considered 200,000 € an acceptable risk in their cost/benefit analysis for a cover feature to boost sales? Or does this specific tabloid not fake interviews, contrary to others for whatever reason? I must be missing some kind of context here. Anne Hoffmann was the chief editor as well.
Is there a chance this guy has just been locked in since 2013 or is he a vegetable? What if they put a neuralink in him?
is there documented evidence of "Neuralink" reviving people from Deep Coma.? You are talking as if "inserting" a neuralink is like walking into a tattoo parlor and getting a tattoo.
