That aside, it just felt like Sundar didn’t have a clear way to answer the concerns.
He completely dodged the question of penalising websites with 90% traffic drop, and he had little to say in the way of Big Tech gobbling up everyone’s work for AI training but only paying the big publishers for it.
The next year is going to be an absolute slog when it comes to using Google Search. Sundar alludes to this by saying that they are now upgrading search systems to better identify interesting/useful content.
My understanding of that is that they are simply doing all this testing in real-time and if that means smaller publishers get pushed out - in their eyes it is a small price to pay.
