Rather than give users option to control, Android for the last sizable fraction of the decade has made its way by reducing possibilities & cutting options. More secure better battery, forever and ever, by turning down what is possible.
If I'm going to deal with much worse battery life anyways (compared to 2-3 days on my BB), I'm at least going to have a cheap device that's easy to repair, a 3.5mm jack, swappable battery, uSD card, and an OS that will do as I say. So I've moved on to a Pinephone Pro.
It's less stable, but I am indescribably fed up with Android (or iOS) killing background tasks that I expect to run
AOSP? Google play services?
