Walmart's Reign as America's Biggest Retailer Is Under Threat [to Amazon]

Walmart was destined (?) to be the local place where many things would be on the shelf, in and out, with minimal hassle (because of their extensive logistics already in place, and number of stores.)
But no, in the SF Bay Area - not a small market - and for years now, many shelves have been empty (long before the pandemic); prices are no longer a sure thing; hassle is piled on the shopper: locked up products (when they are not locked up at the Target across the street) or attempting very harshly to detain and delay shoppers at the exit (Target across the street doesn't); strange policies (byzantine core refund on auto batteries).
To counter the empty shelves, of course I gave a chance to their "free ship to store" online option - and they shipped a different product from what I ordered!
What in the world happened to this company?
