Now I spend my time managing a horse farm and renovations on an accompanying 1886 house which if things go well we will actually get to occupy sometime this year. Beats the heck out of an office.
A lot can be done remotely, but I have yet to find a good white board replacement for team problem solving. And when looking at some schematics, a large print out is hard to beat.
On a side note, does this kind of room really exist anywhere? https://www.vaultofculture.com/vault/nst/2019/12/11/siliconv...
Btw virtual whiteboarding like miro, lucidspark, freeform, work actually quite well.
- Noisy and interruption-prone due to poor interior design and open office style
- Lack of privacy also due to open office design
- Lack of amenities I have at home
- Lack of availability of video conference rooms
- Hot desking takes more time, is unpredictable, and people leave trash, junk, dirt, and reconfigure monitors oddly without putting them back
- Quality of meal and other office perks aren't all that good, and got worse with the shrinkflation and layoffs
