Record-breaking increase in CO2 levels in atmosphere

In comparison to air pollution measurements of PM2.5, there are not many monitors out there that measure CO2.

Last year we started experimenting with measuring CO2 outdoors with low cost sensors and saw promising results in the accuracy compared to much more expensive reference stations [1].

As a result we added CO2 to our open source hardware air quality monitor AirGradient Open Air [2].

I'm very thankful that 1000+ of these outdoor monitors have already been deployed over the last couple of months by our strong community.

With a large amount of these monitors out there, we can make a significant contribution to understand better where exactly these emissions are coming from and ways to reduce them.

Climate change and air pollution are linked together but too often still a separate discussion. By bringing both into an open hardware project, I do hope we can have a positive impact.
