Neuralink's First Human Brain-Chip Implant Appeared Flawless,There Was a Problem

The "Problem" mentioned in the clickbait title:

> In the weeks following the surgery, a number of threads retracted from the brain, resulting in a net decrease in the number of effective electrodes. This led to a reduction in BPS (bits per second). In response to this change, we modified the recording algorithm to be more sensitive to neural population signals, improved the techniques to translate these signals into cursor movements, and enhanced the user interface. These refinements produced a rapid and sustained improvement in BPS, that has now superseded Noland’s initial performance.

... is just a discussion of this:

I feel like I'm being trained by these legacy media outlets to go elsewhere for news.

Same here, I refuse to solve silly CAPTCHAs because “something about my browser caught their attention”. And it's paywalled anyway, so: meh…

That's fine by them. A user that blocks ads and doesn't pay past the paywall provides no income. I think they'd rather you go elsewhere for news.
