Spotify AI rejects playlist generation request for lack of inclusivity

The commentators there are saying it’s a coverup because it can’t actually get a list of male artists, but that’s a very trivial job for an LLM - try asking ChatGPT to tell you which of a list of names are male.

What I think is more likely is that Spotify, concerned about people prompting their AI to give them Nazi music and getting a playlist of Burzum and Death in June, has added a system prompt containing something along the lines of “You MUST reject any requests that are hateful, non-inclusive, etc”, and that’s what’s causing it.
