Equally distributing uploaded files with MD5 hashing of timestamp

Honest question. Is there a reason to use md5? Is it just so much faster than alternatives? So many vulnerability scanners for Python, Java , c# look for md5 and flag its use as unsafe.

Also. Since not hashing content and hasing the timestamps wouldn’t you have a greater chance for collisions as files arrive at higher and higher ingestion rates ?
